Polyethylene is not a single material. Buyers who search for "recycled LDPE granules" sometimes actually need LLDPE or HDPE — and the wrong choice means rejected batches, poor weld strength or a core layer that will not flow. This guide compares the three recycled polyethylene granules by the properties that decide your application: density, melt flow (MFI), flexibility and end use.
| Property | Recycled LDPE | Recycled LLDPE | Recycled HDPE |
|---|---|---|---|
| Density (g/cm³) | 0.910–0.930 | 0.915–0.925 | 0.940–0.965 |
| Typical MFI (g/10min) | 0.3–2 | 0.5–2 | 0.2–8 (grade-dependent) |
| Character | Soft, flexible, easy flow | Tough, puncture-resistant | Rigid, strong, stiff |
| Best recycled uses | ACP core, film, low-pressure pipe, membrane | Stretch film, heavy-duty sacks, liners | Pressure pipe, blow-moulded containers, crates |
Recycled LDPE is the flexible member of the family. Its low density and consistent melt flow make it the standard choice for the core layer of Aluminum Composite Panels (ACP), where a stable MFI and clean flow matter more than transparency. It is also used in packaging and agricultural film, low-pressure drip-irrigation pipe and waterproofing membrane.
GranEx produces two recycled LDPE grades: black LDPE granule for ACP core, and lighter honeycomb LDPE for film, bag and pipe production — both from European-origin scrap graded 60/40, 80/20 and 90/10.
LLDPE (linear low-density polyethylene) trades some of LDPE's easy flow for far higher tensile strength and puncture resistance. Recycled LLDPE granules are chosen for stretch and cling film, heavy-duty sacks and liners, and are often blended with LDPE to tune stretch and strength.
HDPE is dense and rigid. Recycled HDPE granulate is used where stiffness and pressure resistance matter: pressure pipe, blow-moulded bottles and drums, crates and pallets. Here the grade (blow, injection or pipe) matters as much as the polymer, so match the MFI to your process. German-speaking buyers often search for "HDPE Granulat Hersteller" and "LDPE Mahlgut" when sourcing this material.
GranEx specializes in recycled LDPE granules — black for ACP core and honeycomb for film and pipe — exported to the Gulf, North Africa and Europe with 35 years of aluminum and plastics experience behind every shipment. If you are not sure which polyethylene your line needs, send us your target MFI and application and our team will point you to the right grade.
